Why am I being charged tax for orders going to Australia and New Zealand?

GST (goods and service tax) is due on all goods sold by foreign online retailers to Australian (10% GST) and New Zealand (15% GST) consumers. This impacts low-value goods that are valued at less than $1,000 (AU$ or NZ$).

That means Grandville Printing is required by law to collect 10% GST on all orders being shipped to Australia, and 15% GST on all orders going to New Zealand.

GST exemption for Australia:

1. If your business is registered in Australia and you have an ABN, submit confirmation that you're GST-registered to Grandville Printing and you won't be charged GST. You would then charge your customers GST and remit it to the Australian government.
   
   
2. Your marketplace already charges you GST
   Etsy, eBay, and Amazon already charge GST on orders going to Australia. GST only has to be collected once, so that means Grandville Printing won't collect GST if your marketplace already does.

The formula used to calculate GST depends on where your order is being fulfilled:

• If your order is fulfilled in our fulfillment facilities and the order is shipped to Australia, the formula we use to calculate GST is (Your retail price + retail shipping + services*) x 10%.
• If your order is fulfilled at one of our partner facilities in Australia and is being shipped to Australia, the formula we use to calculate GST is (Grandville Printing price + shipping + services*) x 10%.

GST exemption for New Zealand:

1. If your business is registered in New Zealand and you have an NZBN, submit confirmation that you're GST-registered to Grandville Printing and you won't be charged GST. You would then charge your customers GST and remit it to the New Zealand government.
   
2. Your marketplace already charges you GST
   Etsy, eBay, and Amazon already charge GST on orders going to New Zealand. GST only has to be collected once, so that means Grandville Printing won't collect GST if your marketplace already does.
