What is product stock sync and how does it affect my store?

Product stock sync is a function that automatically sets a product in your store as in-stock or out-of-stock (OOS) based on the product's availability in your selling region. 

Every store you connect to Grandville Printing has a specific selling region that you set up yourself. Based on your preferences, we adjust the product catalog to show products that are fulfilled in that region. 

You can check out the available selling regions by going to your Dashboard > Settings > Stores. 

How does my selling region affect product stock sync?

The stock sync function ensures that OOS products are automatically marked as such in your storefront if they're OOS in your selling region. So it's important that you set up your selling preferences for each store.

You can set up your selling region by going to your Dashboard > Settings > Stores> Store default selling preferences. 

There you'll be able to choose between regions and 2 delivery time settings—Faster delivery / Fewer products or More products / Slower delivery.

Let's look at 4 scenarios for how your selling region preferences affect the stock sync function:

1. Your selling region is Canada with a slider position Faster delivery / Fewer products. If a product variant goes out of stock in Canada, it'll be automatically marked as out of stock on your store front, even if the variant is still available in the US or Europe. 
2. Your selling region is North America with a slider position Faster delivery / Fewer products. If a product variant goes out of stock in Europe, it'll still be available for purchase on your store.
3. Your selling region is Worldwide. If a variant goes out of stock in the US, Canada, and Australia, but is still available in Latvia or Spain, it’ll be available for purchase on your store.
4. You've chosen Slower delivery / More products for any selling region. If a variant goes out of stock in some regions, but is still available in others, it’ll be available for purchase on your store.

Is stock sync automatically enabled for my store?

Yes, it is. We suggest you leave it enabled since it's the most efficient way to make sure your customers can only buy in-stock products.

If you disable stock sync and a product variant goes out of stock, its status won’t be automatically updated on your storefront. Your customers will see the product as available, even if it's not.

If you do decide to disable the feature, go to Dashboard > Settings > Orders > Sync as you go.

How will I get notified about out-of-stock products?

When a product goes OOS in your selling region, you’ll automatically receive an email that’ll inform you which products have been disabled on your store. 

If you don’t have stock sync enabled or it's not available for your integration, you’ll also receive an email that’ll inform you about the OOS variants you should manually disable yourself.
